Re: Saints v Wigan

Absolutely sensational. Don't get coverage over here for the last two seasons and woke in the middle of the night. Normally a great sleeper but can never get back to sleep when there's a match on. It was crazy following on BBC text by refreshing. In no time it went from 10-24 to 22-24 and then to 32 ...

What a finish to the game last night. I’m over in Tanzania working and managed to see the try (nit live). Blimey.

Re: Windle Pub

Is that the one near the junction of Hard Lane and City Road where many years ago there was a Hatton's car dealership?

I believe it was Ashalls - a Ford dealership in the 50s onward.

Yes, it was Ashalls, not Hattons

Hatton's was on Knowsley Rd?

Hatton's was for a short while a BMC ...

Was up in St Helens last week for a day and had a meal at the Abbey.
A guy left later in the evening with a dog he called Socks - looked just like the picture you posted of yourself....

Lands End to John O'Groats

I think it was Alan who asked for a link for when I start my sponsored walk from Land End to John O'Graos. I just can't find the thread it was posted on so I've started a new one.
If anyone's interested, I arrived in UK a week ago and St Helens yesterday. I catch the early morning train to Penzance ...

Re: How do

Singe, are you passing through Bodmin? It may be a near miss but we get back mid June. Give you a waive and contribution. Let me know time and route.

That would be amazing, Bert! I'll be starting on the south-west coastal pathway (looking likely to be around 5th June) and I reckon Padstow will ...

Re: How do

Thanks Alan, it's for a couple of charities, Eye Care For Africa and Glaucoma New Zealand. Will be doing a You Tube on it too. Unfortunately it's a bit longer that just June and will be around 10 weeks. Did the New Zealand equivalent in 2023 and it was a bloody amazing experience. Thanks for your ...

I am unaware of the reason the original site closed as there was no information sent out to say what was happening so it was a bit of a surprise when I tried to log on and couldn't.

Re: Films and dramas that you've watched lately

Why not stay behind the iron curtain, head to 80s communist Romania and watch Spy/Master?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/ ... /spymaster
Just tried to but, apparently, it’s only available in the UK. I’ll keep an eye out for it though, it may come here. Thanks for the tip.

Watched this this week, really enjoyed the throwback to the days of the iron curtain.
