The Gamble, awarded a grant

I heard The Gamble has been awarded a grant. What will it be used for when it eventually reopens?

[HORT]

I hope it goes back to a library and a reference library and the other things it had.

[Alan]

I remember that reference library well. When I was swotting for my A Levels I did it in there. More peaceful than at home and less distractions

I don't think this is coming back.

I loved that library. My grandfather took me in there as a child where he'd read the free newpapers and I'd find myself a book to read. Many years later I did a beginners computer course there and discovered the internet which has kept me entertained ever since.
We lost a great institution when they closed it down so I hope to see it reopened.

As well as doing my A level swotting in there I was also intrigued by some of the reference books, a few of which interupted my studies. Books on preparation of corpses for cremation and odd sexual habits come to mind

I was speaking to members of the Archive Team the other day............it will be another 2 years to completion. There will be an enhanced public archieve section I am please to report.
