The Ashes

Post by ellie ellins »

Does anyone else watch the cricket? Where are we going wrong? Are we just a two man team with Root and Stokes? All the Aussies can get a good set of runs in for the game whilst our side were out for nowt! What would Geoff Boycott do? What did Geoff Boycott say?
"England are irresponsible, rubbish and too far up their backsides to care"

Who knew Ellie Ellins was a cricket fan? Is cricket losing its popularity? Not round here but that is Yorkshire so things are done differently here but what do we need to do to get our mojo back. Anyway I will still be watching it.

I'm a cricket fan too. Playing the Tests as if they were one day games (Baz ball as the press called it) might have worked with lesser sides than the Aussies but a disaster against the convicts

Yes - too many players used to playing these one day matches with bazball tactics. They cannot do that in Australia where they have these fine margins in day and night matches, so Aussies just cannot slog it. Perhaps England need to practise the dark - ha! Australia have a great bowler in Starc too and although we have Stokes - he isn't enough. England are not used to those Aussie pitches either and they've probably not practised enough. Those dry pitches with deep ruts at the wicket are hard to manage.

Looks, sadly, like we're heading for an embarassing whitewash

I cannot watch it at the moment because it is so disappointing to watch. Jofra A is holding the team up. I did read some criticism of Stokes because for all his championing of bazball, he spent a whole day at the wicket doing precisely the reverse (2nd innings). They are all over the place.

Looks like now the Aussies have won the Ashes that they're humouring us by playng Bazball themselves. Trouble is that they're better than us at that style of cricket too
