Board preferences

Post by Dave »

There are now a choice of themes (or styles, or skins).

The original default is was called prosilver, but there are a few more to try. Revert to prosilver

myInvision is a little bit like the one we used on the old place, with the old logo. Try now

and Elegance is another, Try now

One more is damaio This one lets you choose your own colours from the swatch at the top. It also puts the first letter of a username if a member hasn't set an avatar. I think this is my favourite one. Try now

and Latte Try now

Normally, changing to those themes is as easy as going to your Board preferences and on the 'My board style' part, choose the one you want to try from the drop-down list. Then click submit and your choice will appear in a moment. You can also quickly change the themes from the portal page.

If you're using a theme/style/skin and you don't like the post profile being on the right-hand side, you can change that to the left from the board preferences. However, setting left profile and switching to Elegance or Latte can mess up the board view, so you'll need to change that setting back.

Just a general tip in case you think that the smilies (or smileys) are a bit inadequate. You can use normal emojis from anywhere else, or press the Windows key and the full stop to show a list you can select from.

😊 ❤️ 😍 😒 👌😘 👌 😎 🤗 🤐 😦

You might notice that there's a little thumb-up button on everyone's posts but your own. When you click it, it puts a thanks notice at the bottom of the post that you're liking. The button then turns into a thumb-down where you can remove your like from that post.

Edit: It also sends the poster a notification that you liked it. 🤢

I'm trying the Latte skin - it's easy on the eyes and calming. I need calming after the stress of rejoining. I'm doubting my own name too, who the hell am I today? :)

If you don't want to upload your own avatar/picture, you can now choose one of the random pictures from the avatar gallery.

In your Avatar Settings, select Gallery Avatar from the Avatar type dropdown.

Still figuring out the settings on here. There is no 'merge consecutive posts' as there was with the other board, so they can look a bit odd when that happens. There is a 20-minute editing time window in case we've forgotten to add something.

No 'push notifications' with this board. Not yet, anyway.

I just found the little arrow to take you to last post in a topic which has solved a little irritation for me.

👍
On Windows, just press the Windows key and . (full stop) to see a list with categories. You can even search among them. Or you can just copy them from elsewhere.
Yes, the available 'smilies' on here are a bit crap.

Thinking back to the "old" connect, those were amazing, especially the Microwave one.

It seems as though those emojis were in a library hosted elsewhere because I don't think any such files were stored on the site.
