This might explain a few weeks ago.

I was up in Carlisle about 2 weeks ago and I sent Alan a PM saying I was up there and if he wasn't busy, would he like to have met you for a coffee.

I received no reply and thought "ah he doesn't like me' lol. Actually I suspected it may have been a forum issue.

Anyway, I liked Carlisle and had a walk around the Cathedral.

So sad. It would have been great to have met you in person. And yes, I and my late wife fell in love with Carlisle when we first came here (a successful job interview in my case) in early 1971

I noticed a bit of regeneration in the centre as there was some work going on, but I a impressed how the old buildings around Carlisle have been preserved and blends well with all the modern businesses that blight our high streets now. I had a walk around on a Friday night and the amount of bars and restaurants in the centre, and full, shows its decent and vibrant little city. Also helps that a lot of Scots from nearby towns use it as their Saturday night out.

One thing amused me was the two Wetherspoons are practically next door to each other. But where usually busy.

I spent some time in Penrith also, had a walk around the Castle and the town.

If I'm up in Carlisle again, which I won't rule out, I'll let you know, Alan.

The PM problem should be solved. I think that it was due to the overzealous Cloudflare security settings. I hadn't been PMing anybody, so I hadn't noticed.

It's still dodgy having to deal with evil bots, though. They're the cause of the grief, and I'm seeing their gradual return. See the bottom of the board index, where it shows how many registered members and guests are on. It varies, and there are about nine on now, but I'm sure that it was twenty-odd when I looked yesterday. They pretend that they're users, selecting and loading pages at random, increasing bandwidth usage. Then if it gets too much, the hosts start complaining. The demise continues.

Just a visit. Stayed in Penrith, also. Was going to take in Keswick but decided maybe another time.

I don't know how many posts I have to make before I can contact Dave.

anyone can help with this?
