One of the few pubs in town that I didn't try in my teens. I think I started walking in once and then walked out backwards when I saw that the customer base was largely mac-wearing middle-aged-to-elderly hardened drinkers. :-)

Eric Frodsham ('BIG E') was one of the last, if not the last landlord in the 'Prince', he used to have 2 massive Great Danes that used to sit on the stairs. I think he moved to the Brown Edge from here.'BIG E' of course used to play for Pilks Recs in their Glory Years. Great pint of Burtonwood Bitter !!

Hi Folks. Big E was never landlard of the Prince. His brother Jack Frodsham was landlord for years with his wife, Pat, as landlady. Jack owned the two Great Danes (Bass and Scooby Doo) and moved from the Prince to the Brown Edge.
The last landlord, however, was Alan Roberts. Like Jack he was an ex-policeman. Big E did indeed play for Pilks Recs
