That "stand" was financed from the Sale of Bert Trautman to Manchester City ..............imaginge now, he would have gone for about £70M ..............They could have built a new stadium!.

The Club House also had a much larger Social Club bolted on.....I played snooker many times there.

The ground was actually very close to Bold Power Station.

Several childhood memories of that station that include taking a rail-trip to Blackpool with endless views of colliery waste-heaps en-route

Some of these photos I would have excluded, including the ones already posted but there are several I find interesting. Saints have had some great wingers and I remember my parents praising Alf Ellerby who played in the 1920's; he appears twice. I' m amused by the coalman not being too careful what he's standing in.

I lasted to dinnertime as i had a very long dinner...wasn't for me..Shame really as it was a grand building.

That must be Carr Mill Dam but I don't recall the castle-like structure. Must be either before or after the early 1950s

There was also a fun fair there-

I remember The Castle & The Funfair, especially the Helter Skelter in the 50's/60's.

I also remember the Fountain in Church Square, I think it was in the 80's?

I don't think it's there anymore.

Here's an old video from the 80's, the Fountain is shown if you look closely.

And here's a more recent video, town looks dead!
