Princess Avenue/Rivington Road side was built between 1920-24.

Hard Lane side - Windlehall Drive/Cartmell Avenue was built 1954.

Yes correct Alan, I think you wife lived there when I did.

Yes it must have been about 54/55, I used to visit my Aunt & Uncle and Cousins who lived in Whalley Ave. in the late 50's/early 60's when I was little.

Brige, Here's an old thread about that area with everyone's memories, which I love reading occasionally.

Building had started in autumn/winter 1953 as that was when I started at Cowley School. I can remember some builders watching our rugby lesson from on top of a half-built house that overlooked the rugby fields. They actually jeered at the master teaching us when he cuffed a lad for some or other misdemeanour
