saints v leeds

Recommended Posts

Quite a lot for our couch referees to ponder me thinks? Dave will need to expand site memory massively?

Grace still a lot to learn.Overruns still, positional play poor.

Saints got out of jail.Hicks dropped a huge spherical object near the end. Leeds looked to be going over in corner when Hicks pulled them back for a knock on against them after claiming he misheard touch judge. Replay clearly showed Saints knock on.

Other than that an entertaining match.

Agree about Grace, not first time he's been caught out of position.

I agree. A really entertaining game despite the ref's cock-up

You must be joking.

RL is a disgrace.

Why have laws that the refs do not abide by?

The game will die in not too many years.

Good game on now too at London Bronco's ground. Watched the England v Wales punt and grunt during the half-time interval. The scrum half fumbles the ball on the ground after every scrum but the ref ignores it

Because they are trying to make it more exciting

I firmly believe that ref's are under instruction to let a lot go.

If that was not that case then Hicks is one of the worst Ref's ever...............he let so much go.  - off sides, High Tackles, Forward Passes etc...……. to keep the game flowing?.

HORT, why not become a 21st Century version of Wat Tyler and start a Rugby League Pedants' Revolt?

What is the point of having laws of the game when even the upholders of the laws (Refs and RL) decide not to apply them?

Why not just allow American Football forward passes?

Why not?

Maybe its them trying to manage the new rules? no time wasting flops etc.Give em all a few more matches and teams will find ways round.

Why do you not accept that referees are given scope and that they are told what to do and how to enforce the rules.

That decision was obviously wrong, but so was an earlier ball strip against Saints that Leeds scored from.

Because the laws are the laws ansdthey could be changed but have not been so they should be applied.

I cannot believe that you lot just think the refs can do what they want.

What is the purpose of the Laws of the Game?

Interesting about following the laws.

If you follow  as an example NFL.Referees stop the game, advise the players and speccies and tv sudience what the reason is and the decision made. Takes a few minutes everytime. VAR times already causing moans.

Even in those circumstances in the playoffs, a massive ref blunder .A takeout of a player was not spotted. The resultant play if awarded would have given the team the time to play to win the match esp as they would have started near the line. I believe it would have been a penalty kick to win.

This decision cost millions of $.

Similar issues have resulted in changes to rules to cover.

PS watching the man u match, there were as normal  takeouts of players resulting in a yellow card.I'm not sure how many yellow cards were given in the last 10 mins!

Even the pundits accept fouls like this.

The point I am making is that refs  do have a responsibility to act the rules.HOWEVER-

If they stopped the game EVERY TIME THERE WAS AN INFRINGEMENT SUCH AS MOVING FROM THE THROW IN SPOT as noted  many times in todays man u matcb,Had reviews on dives,  blatant obstruction Think of how much of a game that you have paid for you are getting. Add3d time being available.

That is why i referred to NFL. They do stop the game, identify the miscreant, identify the break, give their decision. If you were paying for a football match would you accept that.

IF EVERY RULE BREAK WAS APPLIED WOULD YOU BE HAPPY HORT?

Lets have your required action if say

1.Players kept creeping forward on throw ins.

2.Dives

3.Feigning injury.

4.Timewasting by keep throwing the ball to each other on throwins.

What about referees assistants,VAR.etc.

DO we reallynwant EVERY MINOR INFRINGEMENT STOPPING PLAY?

A bit late here but just want to mention that my wife’s daughter and grandson were over from Moscow and we went to the match. They were very impressed with the spectacle and the power and athleticism of all the players. They weren’t too troubled by the refereeing aberrations and just enjoyed the game (and result obviously). Perhaps that’s the important part.
