Ben Barber Sacked

Recommended Posts

Today, North Queensland Cowboys terminated the playing contract of Ben Barba due to a significant breach of the terms of his contract.

Chairman Laurence Lancini stated: “When a player joins the North Queensland Cowboys he agrees to abide by the terms of the contract. After an internal investigation, it has been determined that this player has acted in contradiction to both the terms and the spirit of that agreement. Accordingly, the club has terminated his contract and has informed the NRL’s Integrity Unit.”

I would have thought so...…………..it was a bit incompetent of them not to factor in those Referee fee's.

Man of Steel Ben Barba will not be allowed to play in Super League if he is banned by the NRL in Australia, the Rugby Football League says.

Why?

Players have knocked other players  out in a game with a punch and did not get a lifetime ban.

No one has said Barba did that to his wife.

It's not exactly good for the game if one of the star players has been caught on cctv knocking a woman about whether he knocked her out or not. The games on it's arse as it is. I did read that the NRl are really cracking down on it now because he's not the only player to be charged in recent years.

Here's an article from December 2018 -

Why is the ban restricted to domestic and sexual violence?

Is "ordinary" violence OK?

That is what it seems to say.

Probably because domestic or sexual violence is a bit more serious than something like a drunken pub fight. You don't hit women, there's no excuse for it.
