139 Bus Service Prescot to Liverpool

Terence Price

Recommended Posts

As people may know this Service is due to be withdrawn on 3rd September and there had been a petition to save this route, There will now be a partial replacement numbered the 239. This service will run from the Big Tesco in Prescot to Broad Green Hospital. Not seen a timetable yet but apparently it will be missing out Huyton Bus Station and the running time is is to low so chances are it will be a *Turn up whenever* Service..

I will make another post when the Timetable is published (Service will be operated by Cumfybus)

Who says i have been involved in the *Moaning* I have just been keeping a close eye on how things have gone.

Anyway this Afternoon Cumfybus have posted some Times on Facebook (Photos of the Drivers running boards) It confirms what i said about it missing Huyton Bus Station and the poor timings

jvy nah! if you got arriva and stagecoach to remove at leadt 30% of the excessive double deckers  10 and 10a onto other routes maybe youd get a better service all round.

You need to look at the double deck buses on that 10 and 10a weve used them outside peak and theyre almost empty so they could flex onto huyton bus station?

Gmr users have challenged the ridiculous multi operator situation in piccadilly mcr so perhaps the vociferous scousers should do the same at Queen st!Get Arriva and Stagecoach to get their act together!Dont blaim Comfybus it may only be a subsidused route.Perhaps Arriva and Stagecoach dont get a posh class of user from huyton bus station? you could get them for discrimination ?-only joking of course. Weve had issues over too many bus passers on one route being a reason to alter in the past.So its nothing new BUSES ARE NOT THERE TO PROVIDE A SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC didn't YOU KNOW THAT.tut tut. Weve yet to see a HAPPY DRIVER,You may know better?

We  have a bus service that passes 25yds from our house.Last couple of years as it was a subsidised route there were changes.

It used to run right up to whiston hosp that residents of reeve court found useful cos it also called at sthelens hosp.

Probs it also passed a school and cos it was small bus there were complaints about kids filling it up. So they put on a larger bus and opened another divert to pick up more passengers.

All hell broke loose.A BIG BUS ON A SUPPOSED POSH ESTATE -that bit removed.

Others tried to remove bus cos-THEY didn't BUY A BIG HOUSE TO BE ON A BUS ROUTE.

Still more moans from ARRIVA so route changed again.

Luckily we still have it -HOPEFULLY NEW TIMETABLE WILL NOT SHOW IT REMOVED!

Still life goes on.

I'm so glad we moved to rural Cumbria well away from such petty snobbery

The new Timetable looks like its been made by Peter pan, 58 Mins running time there and back is Fantasy and will run mega late, the 139 currently has 37 Mins running time to go just about the same route in 1 direction, No doubt there will be a change again in the near future.

Alan well we have to keep up the standard.Just round from where you lived we celebrated the road being tarmaced and "nice" road signs!. It is now policy only RED ASTRAS,and all cars cleaned regularly not just on a sunday so we can keep the tarmac clean. Bet you wish you were back! Our next campaign is to make people USE THEIR DRIVES TO PUT THEIR CARAVANS AND CARS SO OUR LITTLE BUS CAN GET ROUND!

added 4 minutes later

Terry,NO IT WONT BE FANTASY BUT REALITY!Our little bus has rules- If late dont stop, miss route bits out.If no driver dont run,if bus breaks down( regular) dont put another on.

Was in Billinge last Friday and drove around the estate that includes Windsor Road to show my daughter our first house, No. 34 Windsor Rd -  bought in 1967 for £3300. We even had a 100% mortgage. Windsor Road looks great, clean, tidy and being the last road before open fields, feels quite rural and quiet

  • 2 weeks later...

Interesting looking at the foto re the petition .It shows also 137/138.

The reason i was raising a "smirk". We have the 137/8 that used to go all the way to whiston.

However before it went through st.helens from Billinge it did try routes round Billinge to support its running.

Unfortunately there were a number of estates the bus used to go round where residents complained. There complaint was WE didn't BUY A HOUSE TO BE ON A BUS ROUTE.

WE CANNOT PARK OUR MOBILE HOME OR CARAVAN ON ROAD EVEN THOUGH OUR DRIVE IS EMPTY.

i hope those raising petition theyve got to remember the "poshies" who dont want to be on a bus route..
