PRV
Peter Twist married Annie Hopton 08/02/1875.at Christ Church,Eccleston.I believe he later married Mary Platt at the Parish Church 02/04/1887 the interesting result of these marriages can be found on the 1891 census at 121 Frederick Street. I believe that the son Henry Twist is my wife's grand dad. This single family of Twists and Platts should produce some interesting follow ups.. twistl-01
Hello! My name is Laura Twist. *thumbsup!* My grandfather Alan Twist was one of 9 children and grew up in the prescot/eccleston area. His parents were Thomas V Twist B:1894 and Louisa Twist nee Williams B: 1895 and they married at the Welsh Wesleyan Church on Sutton Road in 1917. Thomas was one of 7 children and his parents were Thomas Twist B:1862 and Sarah Annie Twist nee Roughley B: 1861 and they married at the (now demolished) church of the sacred heart on Borough Road. Thomas Snr was one of 6 (possibly 7) sons and an adopted daughter. His parents were Jospeh Twist B: 1837 and Margaret Twist nee Brownbill/Branwell and they married in 1858. I'd be really interested if anyone is connected to this tree? Manuel - looking at your information, I do not have a Louisa Twist in my tree (other than my great-grandmother who was born Louisa May Williams). However, one of Thomas Snr's brothers children Mary Elizabeth Twist married a Thomas Foster in 1927. Any connection? :-)
Olliebeak
Not sure if this will help anybody at all - My grandad's brother Herbert Thompson (b 1902 d 1932) lived in Raglan Street married May Twist (b 1903 d 1962) in 1925. After Herbert's death in 1932, Mary remarried in 1938 to James Daniels (b1902).

windled
My line reads, mother Twist still living, grandfather Francis J Twist, 1898-1981 > Joseph Twist, 1871-1950 > Thomas Twist, 1845-1871 > John Twist, 1823-1886 > Thomas Twist, 1794-1869 > Thomas Twist, 1759-1838, all born in the St Helens area mainly Parr and Blackbrook. twistl-01
Ah, have found what you messaged me about Windled! Hmm.. on first look at my tree I can't see a link anywhere :-/ Which is disappointing! As you have many of the same names I was sure I would find a link somewhere! My line is Father Twist still living > grandfather Alan Twist 1926-1982 > Thomas Twist 1894 - 1937 > Thomas Twist 1862 - 1926 > Joseph Twist 1837 - 1897 > (possibly) James Twist 1916 - ? I have alot of Johns, Joseph's, Thomas' - all pretty common names I suppose. Joseph's = births 1837, 1883, 1886, 1892, and 1920. Thomas's = births 1834, 1862, 1894 and 1921 John's = births 1838, 1863, 1893, and my own uncle who is still living. Seems like we are from different lines :-/ but thanks so much! windled
Hi kneeshin, I forgot to mention that Elizabeth (Betty) Mather had been married before she married John Anders, she married John Darbyshire (the family later became Derbyshire's) on the 15 Nov, 1847 at Rainford Parish Church, they had one child together named Ellen, born 1847, John died before the 1851 census and Betty and daughter moved in with her father John Mather in Duke street, John Mather was my great grandfather x 4. Twistl-01, it does look likely that we are related, was your Joseph Twist's wife's name Margaret (Brownbill), and was his fathers name Robert ? Windled. twistl-01
Hi Windled, how exciting! Yes, the Joseph I have was married to Margaret Brownbill and they had 6 sons (that i know of) one of which was my great-great grandfather Thomas. I had not yet confirmed Joseph's parents, but think that Robert was one match and James was another possiblity. Which Twist are you related through to Joseph & Margaret? TwistL01:-)
