That "corridor of power" took me right back to the 1970s. A similar corridor existed at Opel HQ in Russelsheim, Germany. I must have visited at least twenty times before I came away with a commitment from the Purchasing Manager there to buy their seatbelts from us in Carlisle

Remember when Pilks HO was next to Sheet Works? In St Helens you had really "made it" if you got a job there.

I remember being invited to the massive computer across the road from there when we were still at Cowley c 1960. The computer occupied a large room and was a source of wonder in its day. I imagine that an iphone has similar power today

The room there behind the sofa is called the St.Helens Room, that is the one with the huge plate glass table and the wall mural of a panoramic view of the town centre taken about 1970 from the top of the tower.
