Looking for information on George Bibby b: Abt 1770..I believe they were Roman Catholics and maybe the information for George and his family are with Our Lady Help of Christians in Portico..I was able to find his son Ralph Bibby's christening details in St Mary's and his grandson George was baptised at Our Lady's Roman Catholic Chapel..anyone that may be researching this family or has information how I can get the information required. I live in Australia and unable to attend research facilities. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Hi Ciddon, welcome.gif to Connect.

Re records for Our Ladys Portico, this is what was said in another thread about them.

Anyone interested in records for Our Lady these is what is held at Lancashire Records Office

PRESCOT, Portico, Our Lady Help of Christians; Archdiocese of Liverpool

C 1753-1848

M 1802-1813, 1828-1848

B 1802-1813

MF 9/8

This is a link about Our Ladys Portico, confusing though, as it says the same as above about the records,

but says the Church was founded in 1790?

There are some Censuses here on Connect and I found a George Bibby in the 1841 Census.

George Bibby, Born 1771, Age 70, living at Brown's Square, Prescot.

Mary Bibby, Born 1796, Age 45.

Alice Bibby, Born 1826, Age 15.

I found these Bibby's in 1851, at 67 Eccleston Street, Prescot, could that be the same Alice?

Mary Bibby, Head, Born 1803, Age 48.

Alice Bibby, Daughter, Born 1826, Age 25.

Elizabeth Bibby, Grandaughter, Born 1848, Age 3.

Ann Whittle, Lodger, Born 1831, Age 20.

I don't know if you have access to Ancestry, but that might help you further,

unfortunately, I don't have full access at present.

Let's hope someone sees this, who has more info. for you. Good Luck. smile.png
