Hi

Only info we have on the ALCOCK surname is ELIZABETH ALCOCK

Bpt 1 Jan 1764 Elizabeth Alcock illegitimate daughter of Elizabeth Alcock of Bold Burtonwood PR

Elizabeth is my G-g-g-g-grandmother..she married John Holden in 1788 of Sutton St Helens

2 names both the same and thats it..not one other Alcock name < :0{ ..we are not sure at this time who Elizabeth's parents were or the father of 4 g granny was either..no b@$%@rd bonds found so far...we so far have not even found any witnesess to any of their childrens baptisms or marriages that might give us another Alcock surname ..Davis and Tarbuck surnames are somehow tied into either Alcock or Holden lines as both were witneses to Elizabeth's and Johns marriage back in 1788..no idea how tho..

I have a Nancy Pickavance married to John Wilkinson; May 28 1862 at St. Mary's Prescot Church. Nancy was born in 1842 and died in 1884. Her mother was Jane Pickavance a spinster but no father mentioned. Her husband John was a coalminer and was the son of Thomas Wilkinson and Catherine Penketh.

Hope this helps . :)

Hi, My grandmother was Esther Critchley b. 1871, she married my grandfather George Molyneux on the 31 August 1889, and died in 1949. Is this the same family you are looking for?

Another relation - Welcome! :)

(Sorry about the speed of the site today. It isn't always like this.)

So your grandmother would be the daughter of Samuel, who was the son of William - who was the brother of my great great great grandfather Henry?

You'll want to meet your cousin Rosalind. She's descended from Samuel too. She knows lots about the Critchleys and she worked out most of mine for me. Look in the Name Studies area (in Documents Tables and Databases) and check out the Critchley files.

No, I don't have any of those names, but if you post your interests somebody might be able to connect.

The site is crawling along terribly slow today and I've just tried to access the online Critchley files myself with no luck. It'll probably get better later.. hopefully.

Just to give you something to be going on with (if this posts), in 1871 your grandmother was listed as being 6 months old..

Delph Brow, Moss Bank

Samuel, Critchley, 39, Head, Collier, Sutton

Elizabeth, Critchley, 38, Wife, Windle

William, Critchley, 15, Son, Collier, Windle

Danniel, Critchley, 13, Son, Collier, Windle

Martha, Critchley, 10, Daughter, Scholar, Windle

Samuel, Critchley, 3, Son, Scholar, Windle

Esther, Critchley, 6 m, Daughter, Windle

I's hardly worth using the site as it is at the moment.

I'll email you some more info when I've put it together.

Hi there

I have just discovered Mary Ellen Critchley, born march 1850 in Prescot, mother Esther, father unknown, Esther seems to have married 6 weeks or so after Marys birth.

Mary Jane married Henry Martindale born 1850 son of Henry Martindale and Mary Ann Hazelden both of Farnworth.

Any relation?

Best wishes Pat
