Hi. My father was John Lewis 1924 known as Jack. He had 6 siblings. His mother was a Howard. Her Mother a Tarbuck. The Tarbuck family had two sister's marry into Skepper family in the 1860's/1870's. The close family links remained through out the 1900's. I would be interested to hear from any one who has the same names in their family tree.

I have a Sarah Tarbuck (1766-1833) who married into my Mercers (John Rigby Mercer). Her parents seem to be Henry Tarbuck (1723) and Margaret Woods (1728). Henry Tarbuck is thought to have been the son of John Tarbuck (1697) and Ellen Harrocks (1700). All in St Helens. Is anyone familiar with those?

Hi, My G.G.Grandfather, John Skepper married Ann Tarbuck in 1868. His son Frederick William married an Alice Tarbuck in 1874. I think we might have a direct hit there!

Hi , Yes we have a direct hit. Ann Tarbuck had a daughter in 1860 before she married John Skepper. Ann was my Gr Gr grandmother. Her first daughter my Gr grandmother. Ann and John brought up my grandmother as her mother died in child birth. It was this lady that went on to have 7 children , one of them my Dad John Richard Lewis.

Sorry Jill, only just noticed that I had been tagged in this thread (Doh!) . So your G.Grandmother was Elizabeth Alice then?  I have located some papers with notes on re the research that my brother Derek did on the Tarbucks. We currently have Ann Tarbuck (and Alice) daughters of Thomas Tarbuck & Elizabeth(Turton) and Thomas' parents as Thomas Tarbuck & Hannah with potentially his parents being a Thomas and Mary. That would be around the 1760's. I believe this info was taken from Childwalll PR's. I need to take a proper look at the Tarbuck line but I'm currently busy with my Pickavance line which was my mothers side.
