I thought that was a more of a general saying/question about any topics and not necessarily to do with The Queen?  :dunno:

I remember it was...

"What's that got to do with the price of Fish?"

And short trousers

They only wear shorts at school here. It's NOT cool to wear long trousers to school. Long knee high socks in the winter and old-fashioned sandals in the summer months. There's nothing more ridiculous than seeing an 18-year old with his long socks or sandals on. Been here 30-odd years and still make me chuckle. Chuckle - now that's a word you don't hear often anymore....

On a similar theme, blokes who worked on Pilks Continuous Grinders with their hair and clothes coloured bright red with "serrie rouge", (the polishing medium officially known as cerium oxide used as a final process on the grinders)

Now Molly rings a bell. When I was a kid I used to visit my auntie's family in Graham Street, Parr. I can remember going to a sort of water-filled clay-pit with my cousin, it was always referred to as "The Molly". I assume that this was local slang for the Marl Pit. Is it still there and am I correct about it being an old marl pit?

This molly was behind Merton Bank near the railway and was Dumping ground for all kinds of toxic waste if you walked on it your shoes would melt and it was always catching fire ! As kids we would run down the street shouting "The molly is alight " and we would go watch the fire brigade try to put it out
