Well there's a mottley set of names to start off with! The Painters and Holdens and Fitzgeralds are Parr.Fingerpost areas whilst the Whartons were around Wilson St near Sacred Heart type area, you will know that area better than I do. These are my paternal and maternal grandparents names and would like to hear from anyone who might be related, or have any info. Going back a bit, my grandmother (Fitzgerald b1890, grandfather Holden 1885). Live north of the border but was blown away when I found this site, it has brought back a lot of memories.

Are you talking about Peter Painter born 1871 in St Helens who married Sarah Wharton born 1874, there son William Painter born 5 August who married Lydia Jane Holden born 1914 daughter of William &Harriet Holden nee Fitsgerald who had 10 children 9 born Haydock the other in St Helens?. William Holden is one of 11 children of John & Margaret Holden nee Birch.

Have you any detail on the Holden line about John & Elizabeth Holden nee Alcock John was born about 1766, I have a few leads on him but nothing 100% to go on.

Ratty - Who are your Holden's on Boundary Road?

Hello there,

I don't think so, my line is Thomas Painter (1850) who married Margaret Wharton (1855) both born in St. Helens. The had two children, Margaret A. (1877-1882) and Mary Jane born in 1880. Thomas had a number of brothers and sisters: Hannah (1852), Alice (1861), William (1863), Elizabeth (1865), James (1868), and Ellen (1870). Their mum was called Ann (I think born in Widnes) but I don't have details of dad. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a link somewhere though. I haven't found a Sarah Wharton, but haven't looked as yet.

Thanks for your response.

wrb - we have connected before on this family along with Slc from Texas, The head was William Holden two of the grand children are brought up by the aunt and uncle because their mother disappeared one day, I think she herself was an orphan brought up by Irish in Westfield Street, other connected names are Burrows, Smyth's ,Bacon.

No I haven't either, She used to be on my facebook friends but she's deleted herself, probably due to my anti American politics stance :\ ..Nothing against the people but that country does so much damage to the world.
