I have a George Rigby aged 62 in 1851 census he was from Windle, born about 1789

his wife was Elizabeth from Winstanley aged 65 born about 1786 (I think her maiden name may have been Taylor)

my line was their daughter Elizabeth born parr about 1819 she married John Pickavance from Eccleston born about 1817

I don't know if these are related to you

The middle child appears to be Maria on her baptism and census records. She married Thomas RICKARDS at St Nicholas, Sutton on 15 September 1897. They were living in Francis Street on the 1911 census with their five children.

It is a few years since i was doing my St Helens Rigby's i found lots and also went down some blind alleys, I bought some Certs that i am sorry to say were not my family.

1.) Marriage cert William Haines - Sarah Scott Smith 20/11/1870 Liverpool..william was born in St Helens.

2.)Marriage cert John Rigby - Margaret Haines both age 21..16/01/1895 parish church st helens

If these are your family i am happy to pass them on.

Also lots of census and family notes of : Joseph Rigby b10/08/1861 in Sutton and his wife Mary Taggart b.1861 West Derby they married in Lowe house on 25/06/1885.

The Rigby name really is a common name in St. Helens, My grandparents on my mothers side were Rigby's and it seems the males of the family all worked down the pit, accept one who became a surgeon.( Go figure)..

Anyone know of a Henry Rigby Johnson lived in Parr and then Sutton. Died approx 1974?

Thank you for replying. I have just found out his name Rigby is actually his middle name not a surname. Info is a bit confusing on this side.
