Ashamed to admit it but in the very early 1950s if we'd had a long dry summer we frequently started grass fires on Bishop Road fields and on the East Lancs Road banking opposite the cemetary

Can see the wild fires in Albania this week from our balcony ! Reminded me of when we used to set the railway banking alight at Merton bank as kids

That just took me back about 45 years to the last time we all holidayed in Corfu. The wild fires in Albania are part of that memory You could see them quite clearly from the hotel wondow

I used to love burning the burgeys.
That and trying to derail trains or sometimes lying under them.
