Re: GEORGE FOX PUB

Found an answer, the portrait is on ATHERTON ST on a building at the rear of the FRIENDS MEETING HOUSE. I thought the only entrance was next to the Raven. Thought it was strange George Fox was involved with the brewing trade.

Re: GEORGE FOX PUB

Relatively certain I passed something similar to a pub sign with a painted picture of a 16th century gent with the words George Fox. Alternatively I wonder if I hallucinated, some of these tablets are very strong....

GEORGE FOX PUB

Recent visit to St Helens when cutting through to get to Shaw St Station, I noticed a pub sign, and I think it was George Fox. Have I got this right or am I away with the fairies again. Thought it strange as he was an abstainer. But I wondered if there was a link to the Quaker meeting house next to ...

Re: Soccer and Tennis on TV

About 3 weeks ago we donated the tele to a charity shop, haven't missed it one little bit. Enjoying having a read, chatting and generally more time. Certainly not missed Trump, Starmer, Football or stupid self-centred celebrities dressed or undressed, the endless violence and bigotry. Find sleep is ...

WILLIAM COBBETT

Has anyone read Cottage Economy. read it 60 years ago and found it again whilst idly enjoying skimming Gutenberg Project. Contains advice as relevant today about credit and morals etc. Simple advice which many persons in society would benefit from reading.
Sent the tele off down the charity shop ...

Plus media coverage. Watching the game in your local amongst a crowd of mates with a pint in your hand and a great atmosphere, costs a fraction of travel and London prices.

It can suggest ways to improve your answer and also point out any small facts which could help to support your answer. Suppose it will boil down to whether you are open minded enough to try it and then make a judgement.

Re: Co Pilot

I use ChatGPT find it is amazing. A couple of areas i have found it really helpful when i have not got the foggiest what the consultant surgeon has said, and his follow-up letter not much better. Type into the pc, a second later it is there in plain understandable English. Also found it helpful with ...

LOCAL LOTTERIES

Birthday on the horizon and my lads asked what do I want. Problem, like a lot of people, I don't. At that age when you find there is not a lot which grabs the imagination, So it was suggested they were happy to buy lottery tickets.
So any ideas, would prefer local charity, certainly not those who ...

He was a clothes/scrap iron/jam jars etc. The entrance to 'Sammys' was across the road from the rear of the school. This would be mid 50s. Would imagine some of his trade came from the rag an bone chaps with their horse cart and goldfish/step cleaning stones, such choice lol.

Re: Hearing aids

I use an old remedy I came across. Quarter teaspoon of salt into half cup of warm water. I use a small plastic syringe to dribble it into the ear, lie quietly for ten minutes, dry ear away you go. If you think that's cobblers, went along with the wife to have ears syringed. Nurse muttered and moaned ...

Re: STORE CUPBOARD

I have married sons with kids and big mortgages, and they laugh when I talk about a few bob behind them and a safety net store cupboard. Although foreign holidays etc are seen as a basic 'must have'. They are all in their fifties, so it's not like they are teenagers. Have times changed so much.

There seems to be uncertainty in today world, weather, virus, internet hacks, supply chain disruptions and our ways of working based on J I T stock held. What are peoples thoughts on store cupboards, a waste of time and effort or something to seriously think about.
