I attended the infant/nursery section from Jan-July 1950. Camp beds out in the afternoon for sleeps; labelled pegs for clothes and kit bags - mine a parachute -how I wanted it to be the drum; cloakroom for indoor/outdoor shoes and wet macs. Wish so much I could remember any of the teachers' names.

I remember the teachers:- Mr Cowley, Mr Duckworth, Miss Addison, Miss Lamb, Mrs Bone and headmaster Mr Moss. Mr Duckworth was our coach for football while the girls did other things. All these things happened around 1952-55.

I attended in the 60s and I think Mrs Johnson was the headmistress. I remember the big jar of toffee bomboms on her desk and you got one if you had been particulary good. Needless to say I didn't get very many!

Aged 3, i entered the infants with mrs grady in charge, strange being parted from your parents but soon started to enjoy it ,with crayons and colouring books we soon were daubed up! It was war time but we were blissfully unaware of the carnage going on to other infants. Mr Mills was head master at primary school and my favourite teacher was Bob Cowley. His tales of the sea carried me away to distant shores, for he was a R N sailor!
