I attended in 1934.Miss Wilcox had a miniture phone box connected to her office. if you were good you were allowed to use it. Miss Abbott and Miss Lowe were favourites and later Mr Pugh.I remember falling in love with a beautiful student teacher who used to play the piano in the dinner brake.Popular song was Georgias got a moon

With ref to the shrapnel Itwas caused by a bomb that dropped at that end of the street. My father raced up the entry and found the remains of a man and his two foxcubs who had been standing at the end of the entry. He stayed with them until the services arrived. A string of three bombs fell.

My Dad, Tom Twist, was Headteacher from about 1957 until he died in 1969. I used to go into school with him during the holidays and can still remember the clean smell of polish, which was obviously liberally spread by Mr Mather, the caretaker. I also used to go on the annual school trip to London and there would be great excitement as children and staff boarded the coach. The first year, we had Peter Smith's coach but it didn't stay with us and we had to go everywhere by tube because there was a bus strike. We stayed, for a couple of years, at 'Peacehaven', in the Acton area. I remember Mrs Brown, Miss Eakins, Mr Greenall, Miss Rogers, Mr Bold, Mr Pugh, Miss Abbott and Mrs Daghistani, though not all of those are memories from the holiday. In subsequent years, we went to Grange Farm Camp in Chigwell and used Eavesway Coaches, with Eric as our driver. In later years, it was the Isle of Man which occupied our Whit holiday with the school and I have nothing but happy memories of those times.
