The double gated cavern is where my photos were took a few pages back, I doubt you'll need string as you can walk round the entire thing in 10 minutes.

Hi Stoka, your photos are great, the string is really so we can find the exit once you're down onto the 2nd level as its hard to spot if your standing up. There must be a way down into the deeper levels, might just be a matter of carefully moving some stones off the top of a blocked passageway. My guess is the lower levels are probably accessible behind what looks like the walled up entrance which you took a photo of but it looks well and truly blocked!

Also where is the entrance to Crisp Delph Mine?? When you say "kite flying field" do you mean Ashurst Beacon?

Thanks!

I don't remember any gates but then we probably didn't go very far in as kids. If I remember right there was an entrance right at the bottom of the dell, only we never had lights so couldn't go very far :)

JF, Ashurst Beacon is a bit further down Mill Lane. There is a big playing field & car-park along that road, you can tell which one as it has flags flying at the entrance. Parking there, its a 15min walk across a field to get to where you need to be. The guy who owns the land that the mine entrance is on has tried to block it up on numerous occasions, last time it was a load of corrugated asbestos roofing stuffed down the hole. If you drop me a PM i'll send you some more detailed info as to how to find it.
