Just seen a foto showing prefabs 1952.These were ashurst avenue.we lived hammersley avenue.Anyone got any fotos info or comments.

We lived in lever street and i remember those prefabs being built, I think they were built in 1949 or 50 but Imay be wrong There are some photos on "the clock lot "site which is on facebook

Yes, I did work on a few of these in my early days. The concept was good, perhaps ahead of its time but it was never really developed and maybe they were used well past their sell by date.

one thing I do remember was the massive and I mean massive at the time-the refrigerator we had.It was styled on the big yankie fridges.God only knows how we filled it!!.

Where are the photos of the prefabs in Ashurst Drive please .... we lived in them from 1947/8 until about 1954.....

Hi NSSO, You said you saw a photo, any chance you could put it on here?
Also, don't remember having a Fridge, it was years before we got one, just had the Pantry.

As JVY will testify the prefabs in Prescot had 2 qualities-- Winter,like an ice-box Summer,like an oven. Phyll the ones in Prescot did have a built in fridge.
By the way Bert Trautmann worked on the building of the prefabs.
Best garden?? Number 11 Preston Ave. (no not ours!!)

Remember moving in c 1954 - all electric prefab complete with fridge - coal fire but no gas. Soon found out that what Les says was perfectly true !! Incidentally the garden referred to was my dad's !

Yeah, I remember looking at it with my Dad before he died (2004), and he said that they used to walk up from Lathum Close (he was around 13/14) to watch the Germans, but kept getting chased away.
