I've seen this phenomena for myself up on the fells in the Lakes - on Crinkle Grags if I recall correctly.

Some nice shots there - my favourite is No5 with the gull top right.

I've seen 'cloud inversions' and heard people talk of the beauty of 'brockens', but these were completely new to me - as the saying goes 'There are more things in Heaven and Earth ..................'
