Hi All.
Just wondering if any one can shed some light on this question. My brother worked on the railways ( shaw st, as a porter ) he tells me that in 1964/5 ish the last train to go from shaw st, to rainford village station , was a big occasion, the mayor of st helens was there and the reporter taking photos of it. They asked two of the porters to site on the front of the train for a photo shoot. Question. Is there any one who knows more of this. or anyone got any reporter photos.

Hi Grangeparker, Couldn't find any photos like you mentioned, but I found this link,
which gives the History of Rainford Station and when it closed. It has some photos. Hope it helps.

Normally one would look in the Archive Library. Check in the catalogue and ask the Archive assistant where these photographs are.

Perhaps after the present relocation we will not have this service any more.
