I don't use it that often (I'm usually on Irish sites) but I did use it alot a couple of years ago and I've forgotten the tricks I learned then.
It seems to me that the least you put in (up to a certain point of course) the more accurate you can get. For example, if you can't find Joe Bloggs in Wigan but you know when he was born you could put in just a year of birth and Wigan, without a name. Or maybe just Joe and Wigan. Or Joe and year of birth.
I've tried all this but it always seems to begin giving results having little to do with my search. It seems to me that whether I put in all available details or just one or two precise ones, I always get thousands of results which start off with irrelevant records.
