Some time ago I sent in a card foto ,from my late fathers belongings,to one of the local newspapers.I was not asking for info but as it showed the name HAYDOCK,I left it in case anyone needed to see it.
In view of various tank loco fotos coming on site there did not appear to be any of this loco. Can anyone identify the loco from its name and did it have any interesting history?

Jo90.I had seen the one you mentioned but didnt know how they were named etc.The one in the foto was HAYDOCK.I know it sounds stupid but how were they named.I was wondering about others. There used to be a tank loco that used to run on the old railway line that went under Higher parr st across to Pocket nook and wondered if this was of the same type.Thanx for your info.

Don't know about one called Haydock, but the Bellerophon was built in Haydock.

Bellerophon. Still in use for the enthusiasts.

Where was the Railway Works in Haydock? This is the first time that I've heard of it.

I have always been fascinated when travelling down and around the East Lancs Rd.How many bridges still stand even though there is no railway line.Yes development has changed the areas but you can still imagine the railways running under the bridges.Wonder also about the "leveel crossings"that could have also been in operation and how our current day traffic needs would have stood up to the opening and closing .

Thanks Le. Any idea about the moat in the top right hand corner? Is it Haydock Hall?

Belerophan did spend some time at the worth Valley railway but it is now at the Foxfield railway in staffordshire along with another Haydock loco called
WHISTON an Hunslet built austerity. they have both had major heavy overhauls and are used on trips at the railway. a number of locomotives were built at Haydock Foundry as it was owned by Richard Evans.
