ALEX i tried several times to get your story but finally i managed it,
im glad i did., yes Alex men do at times get a lump in their throat
i got one in mine when i read those words, they meant so much
it brings to mind how things have changed in our cruel society.
to do that now would be frowned on by people who should know better,
to help others is now becoming a crime,to tap a child on the head
is taboo,.to give a youngster money and chestnuts would get you on the sex register.
but getting back to your little christmas message ,it was heart warming,, MERRY CHRISTMAS

Hello Skyman,
Thanks for your worthy comments, I know this may be a 'rose tinted' story but I like to think it reaches out and reminds us of less selfish times.
Have you & yours a very Merry Christmas!

I kept looking at the pic and was a while before I realised it is The Cross in Chester, if you look closely you can see the modern signs 'oldified'

Hello Antonio,

Well done! Yes it is Chester. Albeit I have carefully removed some modern clutter such as 'No Parking & Waiting' signs, etc..
I also gave some of the people longer coats, the chap pushing the pram now has a top hat and then I added a black sky to give a sort of dreamy feel.
Did you read the story underneath it?
Once again well done; I never imagined anyone would look so deeply into it.
Let me wish you and yours all the best for Christmas and the New Year!
John.

windle_alex, lovely pic and lovely story Posted Image

HORT, I am reading quite a lot of books about workhouses, my gt aunt died in one. I don't know what she was doing there so far from home.
The story of that man really moved me.
