had heard that ASDA in Kirkland st were in conversation to take over the old TESCO in town.Is this a rumour unfounded and just another rumour about roof damage as well?

I doubt it as Tesco stipulated that the old building must not be used for foodstuffs before they moved to the new premises.
Doesn't seem likely that they want a major competitor so close to their new place either. But..who knows strange things happen in our town centre.

I remember shopping in there just after tesco moved in,the roof had been leaking in in about three parts of the store.

Property Company that owns the site is a subsidiarity company that belongs to Tescopoly its them who will develop the site in conjunction with the council.

I did prefer the old Tesco to the new one; it was handy if you were in town. The new one is too big, if you want just a couple of things it’s a mile trek to get there and another trek once you are in the store. And if you go by car, you get stuck in traffic getting off the car park, especially if you are turning left towards the link way.

I've gone off Tesco completely! went to their Prescot store this evening, no bargains worth having, seems to be the most expensive supermarket at the moment, I spent £6! looking forward to Asda and Aldi tomorrow!

New Tesco too big. If you want to go right on leaving, road takes you in a circle back into Tesco.

Asda are building a new store on the site of the old Kwik Save on Clock Face Rd, were the old garage was, it as been derelict for years, don't know what will happen to the few shops that are behind it, knowing Asda they have more than likely bought the whole site.

Here is what was said in The Star.
