What beautiful birds, Oy! Their plummage certainly puts our mallards to shame, doesn't it?

I honestly don't know how you've got the patience when photographing birds - I tried so hard to take some good animal photos at a Rare Breeds Farm on holiday. The darn creatures wander around out of shot/focus, turn their backs to you as you click etc etc. The other thing they do, is come in right close just as you've got them 'in frame', so you finish up with a real close-up of one of their eyes/ears :(.

-Oy- you know your photograpy is top class and those pics are awesome! I can feeel the coldness of that water..but I don't understand photography techniques (neither do many of us.. so only the few can comment with authority). Can I just ask you please, Oy - to get beautiful shots like those, how many do you actually take? Do you ever have any that are totally useless, or not quite what you were aiming for?

I end up taking loads and loads, but only one or two are, what I would call, reasonably good - and none are ever, what I would class as, brilliant

I get loads of rubbish Olliebeak! That's the beauty of digital! In the old film days I used to look at a 24 exposure roll as a photo. I'd shoot that roll and be happy if there was a good shot in there!

Stunning pics.
You lucky bugger having these position themselves just slap bang right for you and not moving until you tell em you are finished.
And if you got rid of your instamatic pots and pans you would do really well,
