When my daughter was born there in 1965, Ray French's daughter was in the next cot.

I had a daughter on Christmas Day 1964 and because I only arrived about 7.30pm and she was born at almost midnight I didn't have a special Christmas Day dinner and a share of all the present firms sent in for Mums such as baby lotion, talc, bootees etc.

I tried again the following year but my daughter was born on the 14th December and I went home on the 24th so missed out again. Anyway I must have given up as they were the last of my four children???

The Hospital was on the corner of Rutland Street (opposite the Vets) and ran along Rutland Street and also down Cowley Hill Lane until you came to the gate of Victoria Park.
