For your informaton, there is a steam coming to St Helens Junction on Sunday morning. It's picking up around 0930 and then carrying on to Manchester, then onto York. My workmate has booked on it, that's how I know it's happening.
Perhaps our, now, resident photographer OY could get some great photos for the site

If that's the Northern Belle it will be worth the effort, went on that to Carlisle in 2008 a gift from our 4 children for our 60th,pure nostalgia and why don't make carriages like this anymore.

Went from Warrington Bank Quay Station on the Northern Belle to Cardiff to see Saints beat Wigan , a bit expensive but a fanfastic experience.First class food and service.

Checked with Dave and it isn't the Northern Belle, but the Princess something or other. It's also due in at around 1030

Hoping to get some pix tomorrow! Anyone any suggestions for a good vantage point to get her steaming past rather than joining every man and his dog at the Station?

Just to whet your appetite - here's one I took of her at Summerseat near Bury a few years back...

Well - a mate and I braved the gloom and downpoor this morning and got some shots. Nothing mind blowing as the conditions were awful! Also the train was a few minutes late so it was a quick in and out job! My plan was to shoot the train coming in frm the opposite platform then go back acros the bridge to get some closeups - but by the time I got to the bridge she was ready to steam off again!

Very rushed but managed a few snaps anyway - will stick them up later.

The bacon butty in the cafe next to the station afterwards was nice Posted Image

Photos now up in the St Helens Photos section.
