My only connection with St Helens is that my Mother was born here in 1902 at Hardy Street. Her parents, William Pilkington and Maria Collins (widow) nee Ryan were married in 1902 at St Thomas Church, Eccleston. His address was Peter Street and hers was Hardy Street. Unfortunately Maria died in 1905, William later moved to Leigh and remarried there.
Are those streets or the church still standing? I have found the streets on the 1908 map in the Maps area here. I would like to copy it, but I don't think I am allowed (grin)
Can somebody explain to me the difference between St Helens, Eccleston and Prescot.
