(no, you're not seeing double - I'm posting about this in a public forum this time)
After a few months building the site we decided that its launch should be on the 11th of November.
St Helens Rolls of Honour »
(the easy registration page has been removed - it may come back at some point)
It has a Facebook page so please give it a 'like'. You can also make general comments or feedback through Facebook..
However, the main point of the registration and it being a member site is because we can never have enough help regards identifying and adding detail to the casualties of both World Wars and each page allows members to contribute via the site's own comments system.
Thanks to those who have helped so far.
Casualty figures (so far):
World War One - 3098
World War Two - 704
When logged in there is also a PDF compiled by RATTY for the Boer War. I don't think that these were all casualties, although some of them more than likely were, but rather a list of St Helens men who served.

Thanks Dave, Looks a great site and a great tribute. Just a quick question.
I have an Ancestor on the Prescot Roll of Honour.
His Son died in Burma in WW2, his family lived in Prescot, but his Grandparents
lived in St. Helens. As I don't think there is a Prescot Roll of Honour for WW2,
would he fit in on this list anywhere? Thanks.

Can't give a quick answer Phyll because no policy is defined, but we have a general idea that St Helens means St Helens. There are quite a few casualties as near as Billinge who haven't made it into our already massive lists and there has to be a cut-off of some sort. Before Ste came to this site (and thus we put the Prescot forums on) we used to do nothing along the lines of Prescot. One of the reasons why we put a drop-down list of 'areas' on the Name Interests list on here was because years ago when we started people would come along and put Huyton, Kirkby, Ashton, and lots of other places outside the area that we had decided we wanted to cover. It can be disappointing and we don't want people to be disappointed, but I think that you'll understand what I mean.

Just to say (if you didn't get the mass email sent to members) SHROH now has its own message board. There are other improvements, e.g. staying logged in should be OK now.
