Thomas' full story is on my website http://www.prescot-r...mas_Caslin.html but in summary, I came across him about four years ago and found that he was not officially commemorated. He died in 1919 after discharge, but having obtained his death certificate, it seemed clear to me that his death was directly attributable to his military service and so I submitted his case to the MoD for consideration. (MoD make the decision and advise CWGC if they are to commemorate the serviceman).
Today I have been advised that the submission was successful. Thomas is now on the CWGC Roll of Honour at http://www.cwgc.org/...sualty=75229760
I have provided evidence of is burial at Prescot St Mary's Churchyard. CWGC will now deal with Knowsley Council to see if the grave can be located (I can't find it) and if not, then hopefully, a stone with the inscription 'Buried Elsewhere in This Churchyard' will be erected.
I'll keep this thread updated with any developments, but tonight as we approach the time of national remembrance, let's all raise a glass to the memory of Thomas Caslin.
We WILL remember them.
