That's so sad. In remember him well, especially that penalty from his own half early on in that 1966 Wembley victory over Wigan. My wife and I caught a coach from near Pete's in Ashton at some ungodly hour to make that trip

Tom van Vollenhoven on one wing and Len Killeen on the other. That was my idea of heaven when I was 14.
Still is actually.............

1966 Lance Todd winner. As gangad says its sad when a boyhood hero dies, and 72 is no age these days.

I loved Len Killeen. I remember me and my friends used to go
watching The Saints all the time.
When I was 12 in 66, they had the best team ever and won The Challenge Cup.
We went to see them when they came home from Wembley with The Cup.
That same year they won The League Championship as well. Great Year!
Thanks for the good times Len and the great memories. Posted Image

One of the best players in a fantastic saints side and he and the others will always be imortalised in song. Most of you will probably remember it. to the tune of my old man.

My Old man said pass it to van and don;t dilly dally on the way
off went van like a russian rocket he left billy boston with
his hands in his pocket
He dillied he dallied he passed the ball to alec
alec could do nothing with the ball
so he kicked it in the air and Killeen was there
its a try its a try we've won.

Vinty, don't forget there were no kicking tees in those days; not even mounds of sand. He just made an indent in the turf with his heel to steady the ball
