In 1836 the then vicar of Prescot(the rev C.G.T.Driffield) had an appeal inniated to build a church in Rainhill,it was consecrated in 1839,it was extended in 1844 and a spire added, whilst this work was undertaken the services were held in the Roby and Utley Brassworks hall.In 1869 another extention was added.
