william hornby of prescot

william was my great x 3 grandfather who was buried at prescot ib 1825 aged 80 .this gives a birth of about 1745 .no sign of any birth of william in prescot. was wondering if anyone out there has been doing any research of the hornby watchmakers of prescot who may be able to help?
