Kneeshin would you know if there Is any way that I could have the original records of a grave checked? I have been researching around a grave which tells me that it is a public grave, section 20. However, the first 4 people were buried 1871, 1880, 1883, and 1884 and are all related, the rest of the people were all buried in 1894 and have no connections. I asked in the cemetery office last week and the lady checked it on the computer and said it was right but unusual that 4 family members are together in a public grave I,m still not convinced and I'm wondering if it is possible that the first 4 are in the same grave number perhaps but a in a different section and perhaps there has been an error when putting info on computer.

Thanks Kneeshin, yes it's section 20 grave 195, the first four are Bickerstaffes, the rest are all different surnames as you would expect in a public grave.

I have had a look at the records and they do not give me any evidence of why. the grave was not used so when the second burial took place the must have asked to be buried in the same grave BUT i can not find the true anwser

Kneeshin, could you help me with some information? I was discussing burials with a family member and I'm sure I read somewhere that when the grounds are full at St Helens they would be digging up old graves and burying non-relatives in them. This obviously caused some concern, if I'm wrong then what exactly will happen to solve the issue of no spaces left for new graves

The new part of the Cemetery near Rainford Rd will last for about 25yrs as to-day more than 80% are cremated. as far as i know there as never been any talks about using the old graves for new burials.

Has anyone else noticed on the picture of the town hall on fire pic number 8 that Tulip put on here the clock face actually looks like a face.
Incidently I,ve tried to post this message for three days and every time I got to that picture my computer froze for 30 minutes
Weird.

Hi Nannypam, do you mean the one titled Fire at Town Hall? Yes I see what you mean, weird!
But my computer didn't freeze, so hopefully I'm ok. maybe it was just a coincidence. Posted Image
