My Great Great Grandfather was called Henry Seddon and he married Eliza Jane Briers on 1st January 1891 at the Holy Trinity Parish Church in St Helens. They lived in around Traverse Street, Park Road and Black Horse Street. Henry worked in the Pitt. Eliza Jane died aged 53 in 1924. Within their marriage they had 11 children:
  • William (Married Emily-Eva Reynolds)
  • Charles (Never married – died 27th December 1961 aged 54)
  • Arthur (Married Constance Thomas 1921)
  • Henry (Married Lily-Eleanor Sephton 1927) - These are my great grandparents
  • Emily (Dolly) (Married John Noonan)
  • Elizabeth (Lizzie) (Married James Fisher)
  • Walter (Married Lily Hargreaves)
  • Thomas (Married May Sephton – Lily Eleanor’s sister)
  • Nellie (Married John (Jack) Hargreaves 1937)
  • Richard (Married Phyllis Hardman)
  • Edith (Married Eric Chamberlain)
Are you related to any of my ancestors? If so, I would be interested to hear from you?

There is some myistery around my great great grandfather. He was originally born in Berkshire, but I do not know when he arrived in St Helens. I know he appears in the 1891 St Helens census, because he is living with Eliza-Jane's parents - Henry & Martha Briers, but I would like to know his story before this. I have since heard that he was baptised Harry Sedding, and I would like to investigate this further. His marriage certificate suggests that his fathers name was William 'Seddon' - occupation 'Butcher', but I can not find this family in Berkshire. Any information/guidance would be appreciated.

Best Regards
Daniel
