Some may remember John Stankevitch as a talented Saints player who had to give up the game about six or seven years ago at the tender age of 25 because of serious nerve injury. This self-written book about his rugby experiences and then his struggle to make a living and keep his family together once his career was cut short is most unusual. There's no risque sensationalism like in many other players' stories (Sean Long's cringe-making life story comes to mind), no bitterness and no great star-studded career to brag about. It's a very simple but highly moving and well-written account of his career to date published by League Publications Ltd as a hard-back 186 page book
