I didn't want to take the 'Fred Davies' thread off-topic.

Just wondering if any of you drivers ever worked for Suttons in the 60's and would perhaps remember my dad - Harold/Hal 'Bomber' Thompson. At the time, we lived on Hard Lane Estate and dad drove a Commer Campervan. He occasionally used the campervan to take people on their holidays to North Wales, Blackpool, Morecambe etc.

He mostly drove Acid Tankers on the Courtauld's/ICI run to Manchester Airport - permanent night-shift. He had to give up driving the tankers after a nasty fall from the top when he injured his knee (busted cartilege) which meant he could no longer climb up for loading his tanker.

After leaving Sutton's, he went on to drive coaches for George Ashton, until he died in 1982, age 54.
