Has anybody any idea where the Baptism & Marraige Records are for the years 1877-1922.
Thanks Margie.

Your quite right Phyll they probably are but there might be duplicates in St. Helen's library. I will make inquiries next time I'm in. The reason I say this is that St. Johns Ravanhead records were sent on to Preston record office but the then vicar Rev Dolan and I was not best pleased by his decision but when I complained I was told that duplictes had been lodged with the St. Helens library archives and I have in fact used them so fingers x .

Asked again at the History and Archives about these records and was told there are none at all retained at St Helens, all have been sent to Preston for the following dates
Baptism 1876-1841 - microfilm
Marriages 1879-1841 -microfilm
and an index of marriages 1879-1930 - CD ( we could do with a copy of that)

There used to be an index book with sporadic coverage from 1876-1996 kept at The Gamble I dont know what has happened to this, maybe it depends on who you ask or when you ask, they are a bit upside down at the moment with the imminent move

Records later than these dates. I cant find any mention of these records at the archives in Liverpool so unless they are back at the diocese offices, ?

St Helens History and Archives - About the move, they say they could be back in business at the end of May/beginning of June if all goes well

That's great news Ratty,I wish they would make the Sacred Heart records easier to access or put it all on CD,I'm sure they would get a lot buying it.

I was thinking that myself, you'd have thought they'd have made us a copy wouldnt you, they must get a lot of requests for them

The index for marriages on cd could be copied, that would be a start

Maybe we should put in a request, a petition even :) I believe that Holy Cross records have been relegated there now :o
