My God Greenbanker! Widnes can't be more that 8 or 9 miles from Knowsley Road, say a round trip of 18 miles. I dream of making short trips like that to watch first class rugby. You guys in th'eartlands are totally spoiled. Barrow, and it's not even Superleague, is 180 miles round trip for me. Even Whitehaven and Workington are 90 miles. Nearest Superleague is Wi**n and that's 240 miles there and back

This thread is about admission prices isn't it.

I merely point out that I paid £19 last year to watch Saints in an ageing stadium - which was by the way- not all that much cheaper than sitting in a modern stadium such as the Galpharm and the Piedome.

This year to sit in the modernised fridge called the Stobart I'm paying £25 plus lets say a fiver for petrol, then thats an increase of over 60%. Mind watering by anyones standards.

Of course I could also pay a one off fee of £40 to be bussed into Widnes for all home games. Seeing as there isnt a chance of me getting to every game, then thats hardly value for money either.

So its little wonder the club are offering the 3 tickets for a fiver for the next 3 home games. This for me is an admission by the club that its rather an expensive season for a Saints fan this year. I would have expected such a promotion if the opponents were Salford,Crusaders or Harlequins, with no disrespect to them, Yet two of the next 3 are Leeds and Wigan !!

And dont cry to me cos you have to do up to 240 mile round trips to watch your rugby. That doesn't make you any more passionate about the game than me, you've chosen to live where you do.

Now you'll have to excuse me because I have to get up 2 hours before I've got in bed,so I can lick t'road clean wi't tongue.
