Seen a thread about Dance Halls, that was a bit before my time, thought I'd just see how many teenage discos (ie: 13-17 years old - pre booze days) there was in the area. Don't think that they do these any more, no idea where youngsters congregate now for music n dance. I remember having quite a hectic schedule in the mid to late 70's revolving around

Monday - Birchley St Marys Billinge
Tuesday - None
Wednesday - Co-op, Washway Lane
Thursday - Haresfinch club, Gerards Bridge
Friday - St Nicks Church Hall, Sutton
Saturday - House parties depending on who's parents were out

Have I got the nights right and am sure there were loads of others ?

I remember them, but only as the mother of a teenager - a lot before my time.

Good old days compared with today.

The Black House, Carr Mill/Clinkham Wood had one midweek.

I always thought the YMCA one was on a Saturday - but I never went to it, so could probably be mistaken.

Did Grange Park Youth Club (Sunbury Street?) have a disco?

The Youth Club that I went to didn't encourage too much 'close body contact' between the sexes, so it was all basketball and ping-pong  - though basketball COULD produce the occasional clinch ..

Mid to late 60's. The Place, in Ormskirk St. Sunday was Sutton St.Anns and Paddies which was behind Sacred Heart ,Saturday Rainford village Hall,Friday was the Attic in Rainhill. Also Sunday was Sutton Cricket club, the bar was for over 18's only.Monthly disco on Saturdays at the new West Park school.

Late 50's Windleshaw club after 7.00pm mass on a Sunday. Early 60's just as exciting!! Ruskin Drive club dances mainly hockey section and rugby section. They were good though and not far from where I lived. Then tha big time Co-Op on Saturday night but only when the Incas were playing. After marriage and children back to Ruskin Drive sports section dances. Does anybody feel I had a sheltered life?!! I must have missed a lot in my youth.

I must have a bad memory, I don't really remember going to most of these places. I did spend most of my time at Paddies before I left school.
Then I used to go to The Place and The Plaza. Good Times!:thumb:

Wait, just remembered that one that was a Rugby Club, near Rainford. Anyone remember the name?

Would that be Moss Lane Rugby Club, Phyll - just off to the left from Windle Lights/Island? It's now called Liverpool St.Helens Rugby Club and my granddaughter plays there sometimes.

St Johns on a Saturday night was right Gilly. That's where I first deejayed. St Anne's Sutton was on Tuesday night and St. Josephs was on Thursday.
Around 1975 Sutton Conny Club started one on Tuesdays and Peasley X Labour club started one on Thursdays. I used to do both of those. I still get the kids (now grown up) coming up to me in town on a Saturday night and asking for the tunes we played back then
