I was actually present at that match yesterday. (Well, got to do something when you can't get League). I'm an avid Ireland supporter and I must say they played dreadfully. Italy played well, but part of that was just the contrast with a poor Ireland team. Yes, very little passing and alot of boredom. Lots of missed passes.
And why does Union allow so many substitutions? I'm sure it's not like that in League is it? I think Italy had a total of 23 players on the field and Ireland not much less. A bit too easy to keep putting fresh players on.
However, I never understood why the lovely Ronan was not fielded till the end, but he certainly showed his worth in the short time he had.

The France v Scotland game that followed it was slightly less tedious. Roll on the start of Superleague and we won't be tempted to watch this punt and grunt rubbish

I must say ,although my granfather was irish, that the Italian game has improved markedly in the past few years. I enjoyed it and think the Italians should have won. Ive played both games up to my 30s, but prefer to watch union, its more like a game of chess and less one dimensional than league... but just my opinion

Interesting, clocker. Since we lost our Connect member Griffin we've not really had anyone claiming that union is more interesting.

CB YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. LEAUGE IS MUCH MORE A GAME OF STRATEGY THAN UNION. WHEN I WATCH UNION WHICH IS VERY SELDOM, ALL THEY EVER DO IS PILE ON EACH OTHER AND KICK THE BALL. NOW I AM SURE IT IS MORE INVOLVED THAN THIS BUT THAT IS HOW IS SEEMS TO ME.

LEAGUE ON THE OTHER HAND BRINGS A WHOLE DIFFERENT SET OF SKILLS INTO PLAY POSTITIONAL PLAY IS CRUCIAL AND A GOOD KICKING GAME NOT TO MENTION A GOOD BRAIN TO GO WITH IT. IN MY OPINION A MUCH BETTER GAME TO WATCH, HOWEVER THIS IS MY OPINION AND OTHERS MAY BEG TO DIFFER.

MY HUSBAND PLAYED BOTH KINDS FOR WEST PARK AND FOR BLACKBROOK. HE MUCH PREFERRED RUGBY LEAUGE, AGAIN THIS IS A SUBJECTIVE OPINION,AND YOU ARE OF COURSE TALKING TO A SAINTS FAN, WITH ONE WIGAN FAN IN THE MIX. I HOWEVER WILL NEVER BE ANYTHING ELSE, OTHER THAN RUGBY LEAUGE AND SAINTS THROUGH AND THROUGH.

AND YOU A ST HELENS LAD CB..... :yikes:

NOT SHOUTING GUYS JUST EASIER FOR THE MOMENT.

Swimmer sorry to disappoint you but I still support Saints even though I live in Wigan and still like to watch league. But I find union more interesting, I think its the variation in strategy ;)
