For anyone wanting Irish birth, marriage or death certs these can now be applied for online at certificates.ie - the site was launched last November but the report on it's workings have only just been published. It's taken off like a rocket and enquiries have come in world-wide. The cost of obtaining a certificate is 11 euro and this includes the search, retrieval and postage fee for the certificate. The site supplies birth, marriage and death (although births are from 1864 only - the earliest date they were required) and also adoption certificates. These can be purchased from anywhere in the world. At the moment the process of orders is taking five days from request to posting the document. It works - I know because I used it three weeks ago but didn't want to post until I was sure it was doing what it says on the label - it does, in spades.
