My great grandparents John Begley & Elizabeth Hunt had 11 children from 1873 - 1894; I have found the birth certificates for 5 of them. Can anyone suggest why the other 6 are not registered? I have found their baptisms in St Helens records office, so I know that they were living in St Helens for each of the births. Was it not compulsory to register a birth?
